The New English Center for Hope is based in Nyragusu refugee camp in Tanzania. They have a core volunteer staff of twenty-one and their main activities include: - Education: English language classes, as well as computer classes, and some vocational training such as agriculture, horticulture, and carpentry are offered. The center has a library, covering topics of refugee rights to HIV/AIDS.
- Health: NECH holds seminars in reproductive health, STD’s, and eye health care. In collaboration with WTE, HIV/AIDS educators do weekly outreach education and sensitization.
- Income Generation Projects: The vocational trades of carpentry and agriculture produce sellable products for income generation, helping members.
- Sports & Culture: Orphans and unmarried mothers are supported by NECH volunteers. In collaboration with WTE, secondary school fees are paid for orphaned children. NECH also runs sporting events, for play and as educational tools.
